Cleaning...

November 25, 2007
Okay, so it isn't the right time of the year for 'Spring' cleaning but with what many programs (including Windows) leaves behind, anytime of the year is a good time of the year to clean up your PC. And as a bonus the program to help you out is free. Wisecleaner will go through your hard drive and clean up temp files, temporary Internet Explorer files and other stray files left behind. When I ran this program, I was able to recover 1.2Gb of hard drive space. That's an additional 1.2Gb of room for genealogy files.

Web Archive

We've all had those days where we found information on a particular web site. For whatever reason, we go back and find that the information is no longer there or the site is completely gone. If you find that to be the case and you know the domain name, try using web.archive.org.

Make your own holiday cards.

November 04, 2007
As we near the holidays (is it me, or do we seem to plan for the holidays earlier and earlier every year), you can do something unique for all those that you send holiday cards. Zazzle allows you to either design your own cards or upload photos. If you don't feel like doing greeting cards, you can do postcards.

After having spent a day in the Family History Library, I'm still catching up in getting records updated and sources added. Will[iam] Wheeler, a descendent of Ephraim Wheeler, contacted me having found my name on FamilyTreeDNA as we are a match on several markers. Will shared some of his information with me and I am still getting the tree updated with the information that he provided. It's amazing that DNA is able to match that we share a common ancestor when that common ancestor is 10 generations ago!

With the information that Will provided, the information that I obtained from the FHL along with a few other updates, the tree now contains over 18,000 individuals!

More to come!!
