Genealogical Disasters

October 21, 2007
While reading through the November issue of Internet Genealogy, I enjoyed the article which covered natural disasters that have had a severe impact to genealogical research. What is great for all of us that do research on the subject is that there is a website which catalogs all of those disasters. Go to www.gendisasters.com.

Catching Up!

October 21, 2007
It's been a long while since I have done an update as to what has been going on with the family research. I have been devoted almost exclusively to researching the Beasecker/Besecker line so I can get my supplemental SAR completed. I lacked some primary information. After joining the Ohio Genealogical Society, I had the opportunity to meet the acquaintance of Barbara Besecker. Barbara is an assistant archivist at the Local History Library in Miami County, Ohio. Barbara was kind enough to obtain a copy of the will of David Besecker. David lived in Clay Township, Montgomery County, Ohio. Also while we were in Ohio we visited the home of David although we didn't get a chance to visit Besecker Cemetery.

After getting back from Ohio, I assembled all of the information that we were able to collect and I am happy to say that my final application for supplement SAR for the Besecker line is on its way. I want to again thank Barbara Besecker, Bing Seibold and all those that helped with completing a final application. This has been a project that I have been working on for well over a year.

Now that the supplemental SAR is complete I can focus my time/efforts on other parts of the family tree. I'm not sure what that will be as of yet but with a visit next weekend (27 Oct 2007), I'm sure I can find something to do :).

Happy Halloween!!
