For one reason or another, that is the question that we are all looking to answer. Whether it be that we are looking for where our family came from or whether we are looking from where we all came from, it is the question that we all ask.
I was overly optimistic of what the 37 marker Y-DNA test would provide as far as information. It actually raised more questions that it answered. Part of the problem is that I know very little about DNA and how to interpret the results. In search of those answers, I have come across some very interesting information. For example, over 99% of the World's population descended from an ancestor that was born in present day Africa. If accurate, why did our ancestors leave Africa?
National Geographic has an excellent article in the March issue which discusses many of these questions while also discussing DNA testing. It discusses the evolutions and migrations of humans through the last 150,000 years. For those interested in history and genealogy, I highly recommend it.
I still find time to squeeze in some more recent genealogy research. The tree has 14,665 individuals.
