The DNA is in!

February 11, 2006
The good news is that my 37 marker Y-DNA results have been completed. The bad news is that it is a lot of information and I have yet to learn what a lot of it means. You can see the results on Y-Search. I can tell you that I did match several other Wheelers that have submitted their DNA and that the my Wheeler DNA matched to within three generations. Other information revealed that the DNA indicates that my ancestors originated from England, Germany, Ireland, Polynesia (European admixture) and the United Kingdom. As I mentioned I still have a lot of research to do to interpret the results.

While I am still very busy with school, I have added a few more names to the database. The number of individuals in the tree is currently 13,802.

TNG Central Database

February 05, 2006
Darrin Lythgoe is the author of a great genealogy software solution which is used on the web site for the family tree. While the program has a database and generates web pages allowing people to display information about their family tree, Darrin has extended the program by allowing TNG users to index all of the TNG databases into one system. You can see the central database in action here.

It was only after I replicated our tree into the central site did I discover that Darrin Lythgoe is a distant cousin! It's a small world!

Kinney Brothers

February 05, 2006
As I mentioned on the web page, I am trying to help others confirm that John, Patrick, James and Andrew Kinney were brothers. All four of these gentelmen were in Fon du Lac at the same time. Andrew is the only one of the four Kinney men that seems to have left Fon du Lac. The three other men were all buried in Fon du Lac.

Speaking of Andrew, we still do not have a death date or location for Andrew or his wife Margaret. I recently located a listing for an Andrew Kinney who passed away in Chicago in 1900. I have requested a copy of the death certificate to see if this might be our Andrew. Unfortunately there is not a listing for Margaret. It is possible that Margaret relocated to be with one of Andrews brothers or one of her children outside of Illinois.

If any of you have information which might help us confirm that the four Kinney gentlemen are related and/or any information about Andrew's siblings, please let me know and I will continue to research the connection.
